Disaster management Committee

The Disaster Management Committee of the school is constituted to ensure the safety and well-being of students, teachers, non-teaching staff, and visitors during emergencies. The committee works towards disaster preparedness, prevention, mitigation, response, and recovery by establishing clear procedures and promoting awareness among all stakeholders.

Objectives

• To ensure a safe and secure school environment.
• To prepare the school community for natural and man-made disasters.
• To develop and implement an effective School Disaster Management Plan.
• To conduct regular mock drills and evacuation exercises.
• To identify emergency exits, assembly points, fire-fighting equipment, and other safety resources.
• To train staff and students in basic emergency response and first aid.
• To establish clear communication and emergency-contact procedures.
• To coordinate with relevant emergency services and local authorities whenever required.

Key Responsibilities

1. Preparedness: Identify potential hazards and prepare appropriate emergency response plans.
2. Awareness: Conduct awareness programmes on fire safety, earthquakes, electrical safety, evacuation, and other emergencies.
3. Mock Drills: Organise periodic evacuation and emergency-response drills.
4. Emergency Response: Ensure orderly evacuation and provide necessary assistance during an emergency.
5. First Aid: Facilitate access to first-aid facilities and coordinate medical assistance when required.
6. Safety Inspection: Regularly review emergency exits, fire extinguishers, electrical systems, assembly areas, and other safety arrangements.
7. Communication: Maintain updated emergency contact details and establish effective communication channels.
8. Review & Improvement: Evaluate drills and incidents and update safety procedures based on observations and lessons learned.
