Nurturing Environmental Awareness, Responsibility and Sustainable Living

“The Earth is not a gift from our parents; it is a responsibility we hold for future generations.”

The Eco Club is a platform dedicated to nurturing environmental awareness, sensitivity towards nature and a sense of responsibility towards our planet among students. It encourages young learners to understand environmental concerns and develop sustainable habits through meaningful, age-appropriate experiences and activities.

Through initiatives such as Earth Day celebrations, Van Mahotsav, Swachhata Pakhwada, plantation activities, cleanliness and hygiene drives, awareness campaigns and other environment-based activities, the club provides students with opportunities to learn about the importance of conserving natural resources and protecting the environment.

The Eco Club promotes learning through participation and action, encouraging students to make responsible choices in their everyday lives. By engaging in practical activities, discussions, creative projects and awareness programmes, students develop an appreciation for biodiversity, cleanliness, conservation and sustainable living.

The club also seeks to cultivate values such as responsibility, cooperation, compassion and respect for nature. It inspires students to recognise that environmental conservation is a shared responsibility and that meaningful change can begin with small actions taken consistently.

Through its initiatives, the Eco Club strives to empower students to become environmentally conscious, responsible and proactive citizens, committed to contributing towards a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future.

SWACHHATA PAKHWADA

Cleanliness, Hygiene and Responsible Citizenship

“Cleanliness is not a one-time activity; it is a way of life.”

DATES: 01.09.2026 – 15.09.2026

Swachhata Pakhwada was observed in the school from 1 September to 15 September 2026 as an initiative to promote awareness about cleanliness, sanitation, personal hygiene and environmental responsibility among students.

As part of the Eco Club’s efforts to foster responsible and environmentally conscious citizens, a series of age-appropriate activities were undertaken for students of Classes I to XII. The activities encouraged learners to understand that maintaining cleanliness is a shared responsibility and an important part of creating a healthy and sustainable environment.

HAND WASH AND BASIC HYGIENE

Students were sensitised to the importance of proper handwashing and basic personal hygiene. Through age-appropriate video demonstrations presented on Smart Boards, they learnt about the correct steps and appropriate duration of handwashing and understood how good hygiene practices contribute to maintaining health and preventing the spread of germs.

The activity encouraged students to incorporate proper hygiene practices into their daily routines and become more conscious of personal and community cleanliness.

CLEANLINESS PLEDGE

As part of the observance, students took a Cleanliness Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to keeping their school, homes, workplaces and public spaces clean and contributing to a cleaner and more responsible society.

The pledge encouraged students to devote at least two hours every week towards cleanliness-related efforts, reinforcing the idea that meaningful change begins with individual responsibility and collective action.

The observance of Swachhata Pakhwada provided students with opportunities to translate awareness into responsible action and strengthened the values of cleanliness, hygiene, civic responsibility and environmental stewardship.

VAN MAHOTSAV ACTIVITY

“He who plants a tree plants a hope.”
— Lucy Larcom

Van Mahotsav, the annual Forest Festival celebrated in India during July 2026, was observed as an Eco Club initiative to help students understand the importance of trees, plants and forests in sustaining life and maintaining ecological balance.

The activity provided students with opportunities to develop a meaningful connection with nature through hands-on experiences. Age-appropriate activities such as planting saplings, watering plants, sowing seeds in pots and recycled containers, and creating nature-themed drawings were undertaken by the students.

Through these activities, learners were encouraged to understand the value of plants in our daily lives and become aware of the need for forest conservation, protection of plant life and responsible use of natural resources. The experiential approach helped children understand that caring for plants requires patience, consistency and responsibility.

The students participated with enthusiasm and demonstrated a sense of responsibility while nurturing their plants. The activity successfully transformed environmental awareness into meaningful action and strengthened the students’ love for nature and commitment towards a greener future.

As an Eco Club initiative, Van Mahotsav provided a valuable opportunity for students to learn that even a small act such as planting and nurturing a sapling can contribute to a healthier environment.

EARTH DAY CELEBRATION

“The Earth is what we all have in common.”
— Wendell Berry

DATE: 22.04.2026

Earth Day was observed on 22 April 2026 as an initiative of the Eco Club, with the aim of sensitising students towards the importance of protecting and preserving our planet.

Through a range of educational and action-oriented activities, students were encouraged to reflect upon their responsibility towards Mother Nature and understand how small, conscious choices in everyday life can contribute towards a healthier and greener environment.

The activities were planned according to the age and learning levels of the students, enabling them to explore environmental concerns in an engaging and meaningful manner. The students participated enthusiastically and learnt about the importance of plant conservation, environmental responsibility and sustainable living.

The celebration reinforced the message that caring for the Earth is not limited to a single day but is a continuous responsibility that begins with our everyday actions. The initiative encouraged students to become environmentally conscious individuals and active contributors to the school’s green initiatives.
